Jesus is on Twitter.

As you know a “tweet” is a text-based message of up to 140 characters which your “friends” can receive and respond to. Here are some tweets sent by Jesus:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Love your neighbour as yourself.

Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.

Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, for God will judge you in the same way as you judge others.

Do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too.

Forgive them, Father! They don’t know what they are doing.

Peace be with you.

I will be with you always, to the end of the age.

I say: This is great advice from our Lord, Jesus.

  1. Victor, this is awesome. I recently opened a Twitter account and suddenly found myself receiving "tweets" that were a far cry from holy...and promptly ended my Tweeter career. You are right on - these are the Tweets that matter, and they keep coming through the power of the Holy Spirit.

  2. Hi David,

Excuse my ignorance ... I'm no good with technology. When I was at school we had parchment and quill.

How can you receive tweets? I always thought when you're on Twitter you send messages for those who wish to follow you. Can you receive a reply from them too?

    Thanx. God bless.

  3. Twitter is an awesome tool - when used properly. The best use of Twitter that I have seen is from someone who "tweeted" tidbits from a missions conference that had a "social networking lounge" specifically set apart for that purpose. Even though I was not at the conference, I still was able to get a taste of what was being taught. And, since I have a "dumb-phone" that does not do internet, I could read the tweets on my computer on my own time.

  4. Hi Mary,

Thanx for your comments. Now you're confusing me when you say you read the tweets on your computer. I thought tweets go from the originator to other peoples' cell phones. Do they go to a website too? If so, what's the difference between tweeting and having a website or a blog or a facebook or myspace or whatever?

    Technology is really confusing !!!

    God bless.

  5. Yes, I think Mary has a point. Like all technology today, Twitter and other Social Media can be a great tool used responsibly but is also open to abuse by those who wish to use it thus.

I was thinking about a friend who had recently closed his Twitter account for a similar reason as David above.

One wouldn't say I'm never going to read another book or newspaper because of something that one might have read that one didn't approve of. With all these new media, there is always a way to protect yourself from unwelcome attention or abusive messages. I'd say to anyone, give it a go - there are a lot of good people out there doing good things on Twitter, Facebook, Blogs etc. Just make sure you have set up certain saveguards against unwanted attention.

  6. Hi Miss Ellen E,

Can I read other peoples' tweets by going on the internet? Or do I have to receive them on my cell phone? Do I have to be a member of Twitter to do this? Like Facebook and Myspace? Or can anyone read other peoples' tweets on the internet?

    God bless.

  7. Victor.

Log onto Twitter.com and all will be revealed!

You need to sign up to see others' Tweets but only the minimum of personal info is required (no more than for a blog). You can view Tweets via your computer or via your phone.
You can protect your Tweets so that you know exactly who is viewing them and people must ask your permission before they have access.

Also, once you have an account, you don't need to Tweet at all yourself if you don't want to. You will still be able to read other users' Tweets.

Hope this is of some help.

  8. Thanx Miss Ellen E. That's very helpful. Just tried it and spent a few minutes reading what others say.

Technology might be confusing sometimes - but it is also helphul. In the old days people used to spray grafitti on walls to express themselves. Now they have Blogs, Facebooks, tweets and what have you ...

I wonder why we still see grafitti every now and then - mercifully not around here though.

    God bless.
